We take a family vacation over Christmas and NYE each year, but decided to take it a few weeks early this year when our favorite Dallas friends asked us to join them in Mexico!

We’ve previously been to Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Maya, but this was our first time to Cabo! The weather was absolutely perfect, the margaritas were fresh, and chips, guacamole, & beers were delivered by the butler every afternoon for happy hour. (Is this real life?!)

Highlights of the trip were absolutely Flora Farms-the food, the ambiance, the play area, the beautiful landscape, the little shops, the ice cream cart! 😍 and renting a pontoon to visit The Arch and whale watch. It was incredible!

When the whole fam got sick last winter, we decide

When the whole fam got sick last winter, we decided on a whim to start upgrading our 1970’s basement playroom to become a fun spot for the kids to play, create, and watch movies.

I wanted to create designated play areas and have toys organized but easily accessible. If you’re like our house, I’ve found that if they can’t see them, they don’t get played with. I love the little play house under the stairs Canan created, the play ice cream shop, market, dress up station, book nook, dart board, and crafts and supplies with cute little labels so things can be put back neatly.

We put in a couple egress windows including one to make an official guest bedroom the basement.

And of course the full beverage fridge stayed! What’s more Midwest than a basement Bev fridge?!

We’d love to add in a bathroom down here and get rid of the drop ceilings in the future, but have some bigger projects to tackle first (kitchen, bonus above garage, backyard + landscaping.)

Napa & Sonoma Recap! Canan and I headed out to th $Napa & Sonoma Recap! Canan and I headed out to the Napa wine region to taste our way through some of the best vineyards to celebrate my birthday. We also got to overlap our trip with our favorite Dallas friends and celebrate Amanda’s birthday while there too! The weather, wine, and food was as incredible as ever! It’s been 5 years since we last came to Napa. On this trip, we tried wineries we hadn’t before including Alpha Omega, Paraduxx, Long Meadow Ranch, RH wine vault, inglenook, and some old favorites like VSattui (perfect picnic spot!), and Domaine Carneros (perfect start to a day in Sonoma.) Napa has changed a lot in the past 5 years, getting much more expensive. Also, reservations are not only recommended, they’re imperative for any tasting. And while we tasted our way through the vineyards with Leo (1 at the time), kids are now not allowed at the majority of wineries. (Pssst…although I loved this trip, with the rising costs, I think I’d recommend Carmel by the Sea instead-amazing wines at a fraction of the price, amazing food, romantic town, and towns of great sights like Big Sur, Nepenthe, and Bixby bridge, as well as Pebble Beach!) Sonoma was a delight and still more affordable and family friendly than Napa. We absolutely loved learning the history of GunBun, tasting at the hacienda at Scribe (our server came out and asked if we were ready to let these wines rip 🤣) and Three Sticks is the hidden gem that has now become my favorite winery, ever. We also dined at some incredible spots like breakfast from Oakville Grocery and LaCheve, picnic lunch at VSattui, and dinners at Goose and Gander, Restoration Hardware Yountville, and Bistro Jeanty. We even managed to squeeze in a quick hike and a rooftop massage at the Archer Hotel.
