For those following along on our renovation journey, I’ve so far blogged about our kitchen and laundry room/mud room transformations. I think I’ve been waiting to show the other rooms because they aren’t finished yet, and I want it to look great. However, I’m realizing that is all part of the process and that will take time! I’ll share more later when we make additional changes.
Sunroom Before and After:
Here is a photo of our sunroom at the time we purchased the house.
We worked on giving our sunroom a facelift this month. Before, it was a hub for toys and rarely used by adults. We wanted to keep it fun and functional for Leo, but also be able to hide the toys when we wanted and keep it presentable. We’ve been using this room a lot in the last few weeks!
The sunroom was one of my favorite spots in the house as soon as we toured it, and it still is today. The 11 windows facing west give great light and I knew this would be a great place to read, write, and play. Although I love the original windows, they are beyond reasonable repair and we ordered replacements that will be going in next month. We are excited to keep the look very similar, but be able to keep the heat in this winter.
When we first moved in, there was a large, heavy, non-functioning heat register in the room. We knew we wanted built ins under the windows along the front, and finally decided that Ikea Kallax shelves were the best route to achieve the look quickly and within a budget. They are super easy to build, and I got the wicker baskets and built in drawers from there too. There are over 20 options at Ikea of bins, cubes, baskets, hangers, etc that can fit within the Kallax!
The photo wall is one of my favorites. The frames are filled with bodies of water from some of our favorite travel spots: California, Martha’s Vineyard, Sleeping Bear Dunes, etc. I wrote the location of each photo on the glass with dry erase marker, so if we change the photo, we can also change the caption.
You can shop items from our sunroom below, but I am unable to link to Ikea so let me know if you have any questions on the Kallax!
I love your sunroom! Would you please share the dimensions?
What paint color did you use in the sunroom?
Benjamin Moore First Star!
What paint color did you use on the walls?
Benjamin Moore First Star!
Love! Can you link your rug please?
Thanks so much! It actually is a carpet remnant purchased from a carpet store and cut for the odd length of the room. It is a super affordable way to get a rug for odd rooms, and they can even bind it for you too!
