When we found out we were expecting, we both knew we wanted to find out the gender of our sweet little baby. We figured that so much of life is up in the air and without guarantee and we would really like to plan and mentally prepare for whether we would be having a son or daughter.
We decided to keep the news to ourselves and reveal at our upcoming baby shower in a fun way! We thought it would be really special to dream up names and talk about baby boy or baby girl just between the two of us before announcing to the rest of the world. On the day we found out, we left the doctor’s office, envelope in hand, and headed to lunch at Rose’s, the spot of our first date, where we celebrated our engagement, and where we celebrated our pregnancy. It seemed fitting to continue life’s celebrations at a place that means so much to us.
Even though we found out the gender, we really wanted to keep everything neutral (except the VERY FULL closet, which I can’t wait to show you later…) I love grays, whites, and golds, and much of our house is decorated with accents of blues and tan with pops of color here and there.
Our nursery theme will be similar: gray and white with accents of gold. We have a bit of a polka dot theme running throughout, from the studs on our rocker, to the fun rug, to décor details of the mirror, curtains, and pulls on the dresser.
We decided on a neutral registry and nursery in order to invest in products that would last for multiple children, without being overwhelmingly “Boy” or “girl”.
We decided to register at Buy Buy Baby for its selection, its location near us, free goodie bags, multiple coupons, and registry completion coupon. We also registered at Target for some cute patterned items and items that were better priced than Buy Buy Baby, and Amazon where we registered for Baby’s library with some great deals on the classic books.
Here are some of the picks of our gender neutral baby registry!
1. Jonathan Adler Sleep n Play Rocker
This option is not only gorgeous, but will be great for baby on our main floor.
2. Bottle Set
There are SO many options of baby bottles, it is overwhelming! We opted for this set for the reviews.
3. Sassy Rattles (set of 2)
4. Gray Star Changing Pad Cover
This is one of those items that will get a ton of use and need to be laundered frequently, so no need to splurge on an expensive version when this cute pattern will work well.
5. Chicco Key Fit 30 Car Seat
We love this car seat! It adapts to work with the stroller we selected, has great reviews, and will work up to 30 lbs. It comes with one adapter for a car, and the second adapter is sold for $84.99 (However, Cody found one last week on our neighbor’s curb that doesn’t expire until 2019, so we saved $85 just like that!)
6. 2-Way Monitor
7. Lamb Pacifier
8. OXO Roll Up Bib
Love that this bib is sturdy and will catch most of what falls.
9. Ergo 360 4-Position Carrier
Cody and I are both excited to wear this one. It does have an infant insert, which you need to buy separately.
10. 3-in-1 Shall/Blanket/Car Seat Cover
This is such a great multi-use item for a great price: nursing blanket, car seat cover, cute scarf.
11. Gray and White Dot Sheets
12. Pack N Play
While most of the gear for baby can be quite the investment, I consider pack n play’s to be a great deal (especially if you’re buying at BBB with a 20% off coupon.) This design in “sprinkle” comes with the infant napper.
13. Aden & Anais Swaddle blankets
14. Sophie Teether
15. MAM Gray & Yellow Pacifiers
There’s a bit of a penguin obsession in our home, if you weren’t already aware.
16. Boppy Lounger in Geo
17. Skip Hop Diaper Bag
18. Baby Jogger CitySelect Stroller
*we opted for this one over the Baby Jogger CityMiniGT because it can convert to a double stroller with attachments!*
19. Fisher Price 4-in-1 Sling Tub
*grows with baby vs. the 4moms infant only tub*
20. Aveeno Essentials Gift Bundle
