The guest bedrooms have been last on my list for redecorating, but now that I’ve started to tackle the projects, they have been really fun! We’ve hosted several guests over the past few months, and also chose to rent out the house while we were gone for extra income to fund our kitchen makeover.
I’ve tried to keep the same style throughout the rest of the house, tying in the same color schemes and look and feel when possible.
Here is the before picture from when I purchased the house:
After:
I love our white sleigh bed that’s in the master so much that we also chose it for our queen guest room. The navy & white Hillcrest curtains were found at Home Goods, but I’ve also found them here. The paint I chose for the walls is Sherwin Williams “silvermist” which is a pretty gray with light blue undertones.
I’ve always wanted a fun gallery wall in the house, and this seemed like the perfect spot for it. You can find the tan and white dot mirror (on sale!) here and the frames from Ikea in the “Ribba” section (which I realllly still need to put photographs in!) The dresser is the Ikea “hemnes” dresser, which I love for the look, price, and storage capacity. However, it comes with ugly drawer pulls, but you can easily class it up with your own. I chose these gold & white swirl ones from Hobby Lobby.
Of course, no bed or couch in my home has a shortage of throw pillows on it. I found these Kate Spade, Tommy Hilfiger, & ikat ones at Home Goods.
If you’re preparing for weekend guests or redoing your guest room, here are a few essentials I’d recommend thinking of. Your guests will certainly appreciate feeling comfortable!
-Water bottles
-Fan
-Blanket
-Wifi Password
-Lamp
-Empty Hangers and room in the closet
-Trial Size Toiletries
-Extra Pillows
-Magazines or Coffee Table Style Books
Wow! great job, I love a good before and after!
